Shallow then Halo...
From the band's debut album 'Garlands' released on 4AD Records in June 1982 and considered darker than the band's later offerings with influences of Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure and The Birthday Party.
The sleeve design was created by 23 Envelope which was a graphic design partnership of Vaughan Oliver and photographer/filmmaker Nigel Grierson.
They created a distinct visual branding for the 4AD Label through their record sleeve designs for bands such as Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance and this Mortal Coil
