The Screaming Blue Messiahs - Someone To Talk To (1984)

The Screaming Blue Messiahs...

Someone to talk to....

From 'Good and Gone' (1984, Big Beat Records) mini-album

The band were:

Bill Carter - Guitar/Vocals
Chris Thompson - Bass
Kenny Harris - Drums

Almost Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood) style guitar with a punk/rockabilly edge to it, Bill also played without a pick!
The band were formed out of The Small Brothers in the early part of the 80's, going on to form the 'Blue Messiahs', however Ted Carroll at Big Beat (Ace Records) considered it a little bit too pub rock and threw in the 'Screaming' to give it a bit more edge and in 1983 SBM were born.

A massively underrated band eventually signing to major label WEA Records, the band produced four albums and and six singles, including 'I wanna be a Flintstone' which made the UK national charts in 1988 and several 'Peel Sessions', the band eventually fell out with WEA and split in 1990.
