The Damned - Hit Or Miss (1980)

Evidently, this was written by Paul Gray who was originally in Essex Pub Rock legends Eddie & the Hot Rods

before he joined The Damned. Both versions below:

The Eddie & The Hot Rods version:

And the Damned's version:

Paul Gray is a definite bass playing journey-man, looking through what he has been involved with is really quite impressive...

He started playing bass at the age of 13 inspired by Hawkwind and joined the Hot Rods after answering an advert in the Southend Evening Echo, whilst with the Hot Rods he also played bass for Larry Wallis on the single 'Police Car', played bass temporarily for The Members and worked with Johnny Thunders and Rob Tyner from MC5.

In 1980 he joined the Damned and then after disagreements in early 1983 joined the rock band UFO until their break up in 1987. Playing for diverse acts as Fastway and believe it or not Andrew Ridgeley!

Added to that he became Lead Tutor for Community Music Wales helping up and coming bands.

He has since re-joined the Damned. He also runs his own web site offering services as a session bassist: https://www.paulgraybassonline.com/

The website Louder Than War has an interview with him after re-joining The Damned here: https://louderthanwar.com/interview-paul-grey-is-back-in-the-damned-and-talks-about-the-new-damned-album-and-2018-evil-spirits-tour-and-much-more/
